5 Easy Eyebrow Plucking Secrets

3 min read

If you are anything like me, plucking your eyebrows is one of your most hated beauty chores.

However, the alternative is getting them waxed or plucked by a professional and can cost around $20 a time and can be hard to do when you have kids demanding all of your attention and pulling things off the shelves at the salon every month. Usually, I will wait until my eyebrows are starting to grow their own limbs before I actually give in and get out the tweezers. If you are sporting the caterpillar eyebrows and looking for an easier way to remove the hair, then read on!

1. Invest in a Pair of Good Quality Tweezers

One of the reasons you may be having a hard time plucking your eyebrows is because the tweezers are dull. Choose a pair that are sharp and slanted to easily grab the hair the first time. The slanted style are better at grabbing only the hairs and not your skin. Then, once you are finished with them, put them somewhere high and safe where little hands cannot grab them!

2. Prep your Skin

Tweezing can be painful, even if you do it often. The best time to pluck is after you shower as the warm water will soften the hair follicles and make them easier to pull out. You can also look into adding some gel, such as Bonjela, to your eyebrows before you tweeze to help numb the pain.

3. Under-Pluck

It’s best to be on the safe side and leave a little hair rather than over-pluck your eyebrows. The best way to do this is to know your arch and stick to this line. Avoid using a magnifying mirror which can make your hairs look a lot longer and thicker and can lead to over-plucking. We don’t want to look like this, don’t we?

4. Wait it Out

To get the right shape naturally, you will need to let your eyebrows grow in on their own. That way, you can see where the hairs are growing and where the best shape is for you. Wait three weeks the first time. After you have a pattern in place, you don’t have to wait for the hairs to completely grow in each time.

5. Set a Routine

Make eyebrow plucking part of your weekly beauty regime. For example, on Sunday nights, set an hour to yourself. Take a long bath, shave your legs, apply nail polish, perform a home hair treatment and pluck your eyebrows. Once you get into a routine, it will be easier to keep on top of your plucking. Furthermore, you should start to enjoy this time to indulge and relax. Sure, it’s not an over-the-top beauty spa, but it also isn’t costing you a fortune each time! Plus, you get this rewarding feeling when people compliment you with your well-groomed brows.
