9 Home Remedies To Cure Acne

4 min read

We’ve all seen the commercials for acne-fighting medication that is guaranteed to work. However, the system requires several steps and costs several hundreds of dollars each year.

Furthermore, the mixture can contain harsh chemicals that you may not want to put on your skin. If you do suffer from acne or if you are looking into a better alternative to helping your son or daughter with an acne problem, then below are some affordable home remedies that may work.

Face Masks for Clear Skin

One of the ways you can clean your skin is with a face mask. Face masks are designed to help your skin absorb the nutrients of the items in the mask. Face masks can make your skin feel softer, smoother and younger looking but they can cost a fortune. The good thing is that you can easily create your own face masks with different ingredients found in your fridge or cupboard. These include:

1. Fresh grapes

Use the grape pulp to massage into your face. Allow it to dry for 20 minutes before washing your face. Your skin will love the mixture of antioxidants and polyphenols that grapes are known for.

2. Baking soda and water

Another easy way to scrub your way to clear skin is to create a paste out of baking soda and water. Let the mixture dry on your face completely before washing it off with warm water.

3. Oatmeal, Lemon, Turmeric and Honey

via Bigstock

If you happen to have all of these ingredients lying around, then mix these items into a paste and leave on your face for 30 minutes before washing it off.

4. Cucumber, Yoghurt and Oatmeal Powder

via Bigstock

Cucumber is an active ingredient in most of the expensive store-bought facial masks. It will soothe the skin and provides a beautiful feel. So mix together cucumber pulp, oatmeal powder and yoghurt in equal parts. Make into a fine paste and apply to your face for a half an hour before rinsing off.

5. Strawberries, Tomatoes, Garlic and Potato

via Bigstock

Just mix the ingredients into a paste and apply to your face. Each food contains different nutrients that can help clear your skin.

Acne-Fighting Creams

Night creams for your face promote healthy and clear skin but they also come with an incredibly hefty price tag. The good news is that you can find ingredients at home to act as a night cream and prevent pimples. These include:

6. Egg whites

If you are not allergic to eggs, then this trick is a gem. Simply separate the egg whites from the egg yolk and apply it to your face. Leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning. Sure, there is a slight eggy smell but the results are amazing!

7. Toothpaste

via Bigstock

Another great face mask is toothpaste. Apply to the acne affected area and leave overnight to dry. You should notice your face is much clearer within a couple of days.

8. Tea Tree Oil

via Bigstock

If you have some essential oils lying around, then try dabbing tea tree oil directly onto the affected area and leaving it.

9. Honey

via Bigstock

If you feel one of those awful large blind pimples popping up on your face (you know the ones!), then try adding a dab of honey to the area at night. Cover it with a Band-Aid to avoid waking up with sticky sheets and remove it overnight.

So the next time you feel a nasty outbreak coming on, reach for these ingredients rather than reaching for your wallet.
