Today is one of those days where I am really feeling the inconvenience of being a woman.
It doesn’t happen every day, some days I am just content being a part of the human race. But on my pity party days, here are the top 10 parts of my life that show that it can be inconvenient to be a woman.
1. Your Period
Yes, this is the major sign of becoming a woman, but really – unless you are trying for a baby, it brings nothing but pain and inconvenience. Even sports stars like British tennis player Heather Waston succumb to the torture that your monthly puts you through. Oh! Then there are the feminine products. Really, those precious years between toilet training and puberty are the only time you are not in nappies!
2. Breasts
The girls require so much work. The maintenance bill for them over the years gets to the point where you just stop thinking about how much you are paying for bras. Playing sports like golf or volleyball can be a nightmare for those girls on the bigger side. Trying to put your arms close together is no easy feat. It makes sense that the Amazon women use to cut one of their boobs off so they could still be efficient hunters.
3. Pap smears
Isn’t it funny how a men’s prostate exam usually now only involves a blood test whilst us ladies still lay back, spread them and make small talk to have our two yearly check?
4. Underwear
So my undergarments draw consists of undies, bras, spanx, corsets, stockings, pantyhose, socks, stocking socks. So many things to suck it in, lift them up, cover them up and show them off. My husband’s drawer? Socks and jocks. It is also acceptable for bellies to be hanging over pants as there’s no such thing as a daddy muffin.
5. Childbirth
Childbirth what can I say? It has a lovely ending but whether you deliver naturally or via C-section, your body will never be the same. Stretch marks, saggy boobs and tummy, pelvic floor issues, incontinence, split nipples and *occasional* crazy hormone swings.
