Chalk Decorated Easter Eggs

Whipping up a batch of chalkboard paint at home is as easy as mixing half a teaspoon of low grit tile grout with one tablespoon of acrylic paint and can be made in any colour! Chalkboard paint can be then applied to most surfaces to dry and then written on with chalk. Consider painting toy boxes or jars with a patch of Chalkboard paint for a unique label.

This Easter, why not take a fresh approach to coloured eggs and apply a layer of chalkboard paint, then decorate over and over! Use chalk to create cute designs for Easter or personalised place settings for Easter lunch.

Gather your supplies:

• Low grit tile grout, a light coloured grout is best for pastel shades, but used what you have or see if you can beg, borrow or steal some from a handy person as you only need a very small amount!
• Acrylic Paint
• Eggs – either boiled and cooled or blown
• Paint Brush
• Egg Carton

Mix in one end of egg carton as many quantities of chalkboard paint as you like in different colours. Place boiled, dry eggs spaced out in other end of egg carton. Paint half of each egg then allow to dry, rotate eggs and paint other half.

Once dry, use chalk to personalise with names or cute Easter designs. Erase designs with damp cloth and re-design as often as you like!

Tile grout should not be consumed, and take care not to inhale grout when mixing the paint. These eggs are designed as a decoration only. Blow the eggs first by piercing each end of the eggs and gently blowing into one hole to remove to yolk and white. Set aside for use in cooking to ensure the eggs do not go to waste.
