Toad in the Hole is a very traditional English dish – it’s hearty, delicious and the kids love it!  This is a great way to use up cooked sausages leftover from a barbecue!

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

  2. Sift the flour and salt together and make a well in the center.

  3. Add one egg at a time and mix well.

  4. Pour in 1/2 the milk and whisk briskly to combine until all the milk has been added and a nice batter has been formed.

  5. Cut the sausages into desired bite size pieces and arrange on the bottom of a greased casserole dish.

  6. Pour over the batter.

  7. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top and bake for 45 minutes or until nice and golden.

  8. Serve with gravy and seasonal vegetables.
